Dote is built to respect your privacy. We don't collect personal data, we don't require an account, and your pet's information stays on your device. Here are the details.
No personal data collected
The app does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal information. There is no sign-up and no account. Your pets, care schedules, health records and photos are yours.
Your pet's data stays on your device
Everything you add — pet profiles, vaccine records, reminders, weight, expenses and photo memories — is stored locally on your iPhone. If you have iCloud enabled, this data syncs privately across your own devices through Apple's iCloud, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We never see or store it on our own servers.
Anonymous product analytics
To understand how the app is used and improve it over time, we collect anonymous usage events through PostHog (US Cloud, us.i.posthog.com). These events include things like:
- App install and onboarding steps completed
- A pet added, a care plan generated
- A care task completed, a health entry logged
- Paywall viewed, subscription purchased or cancelled
- Settings opened, analytics preference changed
Every event is tied only to an anonymous ID — no name, email, or device identifier is attached, and no pet names, photos or health details are included. Session replay and screen recording are turned off.
Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Analytics inside the app. Opting out stops all event collection immediately.
No advertising
There are no ads in Dote. We do not share data with ad networks or use analytics to profile you across other apps or websites.
Payments
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through StoreKit, with subscription state managed by RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The analytics we collect are anonymous and contain no personal information.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above.
