Privacy Policy

Aqua Fish ID · Effective July 7, 2026

Aqua Fish ID is built to respect your privacy. We don't collect personal data, we don't require an account, and we never store your photos. Here are the details.

No personal data collected

The app does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal information. There is no sign-up and no account. Your tank log and saved fish stay on your device.

Photos are used only to identify fish

When you use AI identification, the photo you take is sent to our identification server solely to recognise the fish in it. The image is processed in the moment and then immediately discarded. We do not store your photos, do not link them to you, and never use them to train models. Photos are never sent to analytics services.

Anonymous product analytics

To understand how the app is used and improve it over time, we collect anonymous usage events through PostHog (US Cloud, us.i.posthog.com). These events include things like:

Every event is tied only to an anonymous ID generated by PostHog — no name, email, or device identifier is attached. Session replay and screen recording are turned off; your photos are never included.

Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Analytics inside the app. Opting out stops all event collection immediately.

No advertising

There are no ads in Aqua Fish ID. We do not share data with ad networks or use analytics to profile you across other apps or websites.

Payments

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The analytics we collect are anonymous and contain no personal information.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above.
